Our guide taught canoeing back in 1976 for
the Cincinnati Recreation Commission and is
now retired from the Hamilton County Park
District as Land Manager after 33 years there.
What he plans to cover on the trips is a little
bit of geology, archaeology, water quality
issues and plant and animal ID. After each
trip, all involved should have a better
appreciation for what makes the Whitewater
River so special. Each group outing can
be geared to match the age of the participants.
Trips start at 9am on these scheduled dates:
Sat. July 22
Sun. Aug. 20
Sat. Sept. 16
Our guide is also willing to schedule additional
trips for any group that may request it.
Participants should expect the trip to last
3-4 hours so we encourage everyone to
bring a snack (and of course water).
Cost for the trip is $30 per person. The groups will have an average of 20 participants.
Please call ahead and register.
Try your hand in gold panning. Ron is eager to share his knowledge and experience. All persons shall receive their own panning supplies that can also be taken home as a souvenir. This experience is sure to be a fun learning experience.
Come along as we float 3 miles of the scenic Whitewater River and stop along the way to take samples and try your hand with your own gold pan. When we return to Green Acres, we will gather on a nearby gravel bar in the river where some more advanced prospecting equipment will be set up for all of us to use. If we find gold at the gravel bar location, it will be divided by each member of the prospecting party.
Cost is $40 per person which includes your 3 mile guided canoe trip with Green Acres’ experienced gold prospector along with the tools used for your gold prospecting experience.
